The bean profile is the source of truth
Profilo is a small, opinionated tool for specialty coffee. You enter a bean once — origin, processing, roast, the tasting notes you actually selected on the SCA wheel — and the bag art, hangtag, public profile, mockup, and embeddable widget all stay in sync as the lot changes.
What we believe
The SCA wheel is the right primitive. The 110-attribute 2016 hierarchy published by the Specialty Coffee Association and World Coffee Research is the closest thing the industry has to a shared vocabulary. Three isolated words on a bag — "blackberry, jasmine, dark chocolate" — give a customer nowhere to anchor. The same three words shown as lit leaves on the full wheel give them context: where this coffee sits in the universe of coffee.
Design should follow data, not the other way around. Most bag design tools hand you a Photoshop template and ask you to keep five separate files in sync as the lot changes. The October bean from a farm and the January bean from the same farm cup differently. If your bag artwork can't be regenerated cheaply, you'll keep selling the October bag with the January coffee inside.
Free should be useful, not a teaser. The free tier includes the full interactive SCA wheel, AI bag scanning, public profile pages with QR codes, and the free flavor wheel poster — no card, no expiry. Pro removes the profile cap and unlocks the print-ready 21-template export library. If the free tier doesn't get you somewhere real on its own, we built it wrong.
One small tool, doing one thing well. Profilo isn't a roastery management system, an inventory tracker, a green-buying platform, or a POS. It generates artwork from bean data. It plays nicely with whatever else you use.
Who it's for
Standards we follow
- → SCA 2016 flavor wheel. The full 110-attribute hierarchy in 9 categories. Not a stylized decoration — the literal structure your customers see on every bag.
- → 300 dpi print-ready exports. PNG raster for digital printers, vector SVG for designer-tweakable workflows, PDF for sticker presses. Sized to match common roastery print specs.
- → Honest billing. No usage fees, no surprise charges, no card to start. Stripe handles the checkout; cancel from the customer portal in two clicks.
- → Your data, your data. Bean profiles export to CSV. Public profile URLs are yours to keep — printed on a bag, they need to outlive any subscription decision.
